The 1st floor library has recently changed to a quiet zone for study, but some students want it changing back to a group study area. This cant be allowed to happen. Before it was changed it was a very noisy area, used as a social meeting place, NOT a group study area.

It was difficult to concentrate and having spoken to many students they have found the change to quiet study a huge relief.

There are people like myself who are deaf and so quiet study areas are valuable for academic learning. Other students have noise sensitivity issues due to Autism, mental health issues, and in general prefer studying in "peace and quiet".

If you want to talk and socialise or have group study BOOK A ROOM!

I wanted more of the library to be a quiet zone as it was being used as a social space last year. I definitely do not want it returning to that!

I fully agree, floor 1 was used a social space, not for collaborative study. If you want to a place for 'social studying' then you are more than welcome to use floor 01/-1 (which has been expanded) or the ground floor - Or as mentioned above book a group study room! Last year floor 1 was like a zoo, impossible for anyone to study in - I DON'T want it to revert back to that.
